WONDERFUL WEST SUMATERA
West Sumatra lies in the middle of the western coast of Sumatra, and has an area of 42,130.82 km2. The history of West Sumatra is related to the history of the Minangkabau people.
The province includes large areas of dense tropical forest, which is home to a host of species including: Rafflesia arnoldii (world's largest flower), Sumatran tiger, siamang, Malayan tapir, Sumatran serow, rusa deer, Malayan sun bear, Bornean clouded leopard, and many birds and butterflies.
The province includes two national parks: Siberut National Park and Kerinci Seblat National Park, as well as a number of nature reserves: Rimbo Panti Nature Reserve, Batang Palupuh Nature Reserve, Lembah Anai Nature Reserve, Lembah Harau Nature Reserve, Bung Hatta Grand Forest Park, and Beringin Sakti Nature Reserve.
West Sumatra Province is subdivided into twelve regencies and seven autonomous cities. The popular regency is BUKITTINGGI.
Bukittinggi is the third largest city in West Sumatra, Indonesia. It was formerly known as Fort de Kock and was once dubbed "Parijs van Sumatera".
Bukittinggi is the place to visit the remarkable Sianok Canyon, where giant rock cliff faces, rugged trees which grow on top and the dramatic surrounding mountains make this canyon a spellbinding view.
Bukittinggi has a refreshingly cool climate due to its elevation – over 900 meters above sea level.

DESTINATION

Gadang Watch
The clock tower has a clock with a large size on the four sides so-called Clock Tower, this Clock Tower has a ground-plan area of 13 x 4 meters. The inside of the clock tower 26 meters consists of several levels, with the top rate is a storage place a pendulum.

Sianok Canyon
In the Minangkabau highlands, lies this breathtaking canyon which the locals call Ngarai Sianok, or the Sianok Canyon. Sianok canyon is a steep valley (cliff) that located in the border town of Bukittinggi. Ngarai Sianok has two step walls facing each other and almost vertically, falling to a flat bottom where a river meanders among green rice fields. Its height is about 100 to 120 meters and the canyon itself is for about 15 km long. This cliff is separates the towns of Bukittinggi and Kota Gadang on its opposite side.

Harau Valley
Harau Valley or sometimes called the Arau valley is the place where lush green ricefields are hemmed in between huge granite cliffs. There are dozens of waterfalls tumble down from 80 to 300 meters height into the valley. Harau valley between two hills rocky steep with a height of 150 meters form the rugged sandstone colorful, with a height of 100 to 500 meters. 

Koto Gadang
Koto Gadang, a tone of the well educated, well read and cultured people. It is also home to Minangkabau’s finest silversmiths. These craftsmen have been making the best silver creations for generations. The silver is made into jewelry, accessories and miniatures of traditional houses. Koto Gadang silver is not as shiny as silver from other parts of the county.

Singkarak Lake
It is located between the cities of Padang Panjang and Solok.
It has an area of 107.8 km², being approximately 21 km long and 7 km wide. The natural outlet for excess water is the Ombilin river which flows eastward to the Strait of Malacca.

Pagaruyung Palace
Pagaruyung Palace is a royal palace, or also called istana of the former Pagaruyung Kingdom. The palace is located in Tanjung Emassub district near Batusangkar town, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. It was built in the traditional Minangkabau rumah gadang vernacular architectural style, but had a number of atypical elements including three floors structure and larger dimension compares to common rumah gadang.

Nagari Pariangan
Pariangan is a Minangkabau village located in the regency of Tanah Datar, West Sumatra province, Indonesia. The village is located on the lower slopes of Mount Marapi, a highly active volcano, at a distance of fifteen kilometres from the market town of Batu Sangkar. This village was selected to be on of the beautiful village in the world by BUDGET TRAVEL Magazine.
